Mum has been a resident at Fernbank for over a year and has had great support. The staff are very kind and caring and are always willing to help. The home is beautifully maintained and families are warmly welcomed. It has given our family such peace of mind knowing that Mum is safe and looked after so well. Thank you to the lovely Fernbank team.🙂

We took advice from a local social worker who gave us a list of just 3 care homes she'd recommend. Fernbank was one of the 3 and after visiting, we knew this was the right place. The staff here are extraordinary - friendly, knowledgeable, committed to their work and genuinely kind. The manager models person-centred care and a friendly engaged style - and this follows through to everyone, including carers, chef, cleaners. The vibe is like a seaside hotel, with tables laid out carefully, menus, and even wine for those who are still willing and able. There's a lively social room with games, laughs, interaction; and a quiet room for those who prefer a chilled atmosphere. Everything is clean and tidy. Residents are happy. Staff greet each other, the residents and visiting family by name and with enthusiasm and authentic care. It's hard to think of loved ones needing to be supported and no longer independent; it's very hard to think that we ourselves may one day need this level of care. But if and when you do - Fernbank is a great place.
Updated - I can confirm the review is for Fernank In my evaluation of the nursing home, I've encountered numerous troubling issues. The managing director's behaviour has been notably impolite, and there are serious concerns about the quality of care my 91-year-old grandmother has received. Despite the presence of some friendly staff, the overall level of care has been lacking, with instances of inappropriate food choices against medical advice. Disturbingly, my grandmother has been left unattended for extended periods, visibly distressed, unchanged, and deprived of access to water. I've even witnessed instances of nurses neglecting their duties, such as painting nails instead of tending to my grandmother. Repeatedly bringing up these concerns led to the nursing home's decision to terminate my grandmother's stay, allowing us only two weeks to find an alternative arrangement. This situation is especially distressing given my grandmother's bedridden state and her need for end-of-life care. During a conversation with Sarah Hazell, who I found to be extremely rude and unhelpful, it became evident that she was unaware of the issues within the nursing home. Following the manager's advice, I submitted a written complaint, requesting a report on unresolved issues from the past year. Shockingly, Sarah Hazell refused to comply, accusing me of rudeness despite my denial of any offensive language or aggression. Furthermore, the nursing home failed to provide the requested information through both email and telephone. I have attached images that highlight hygiene concerns. Based on these distressing experiences and the lack of service and customer care, I strongly discourage anyone from considering this nursing home as a viable option.
Finding a carehome is a scary thing to be looking for because nothing will ever be enough to look after someone you love. My nan stayed here for a short while before she passed away and I can honestly say it's the happiest I've seen her for a long time. The staff, residents, building, rooms, food just everything is faultless and our only sadness is that she didn't get to spend longer here. She thrived off the bubbly staff who all had great personalities and would laugh and joke with her, she ate more food than she would've ever done at home and made so many friendships in a short time that really meant a lot to her. They have a great variety of activities throughout the week which encourages the residents to spend time together be it in their lovely outside space or inside and we're so accommodating to visitors they made you feel very welcome. Vicky the manager is fantastic and a credit to her profession as is care workers Donna & Elaine but every single person was equally amazing. They all made nans short time there very special and we can't thank them enough. Anyone who is looking for a care home please feel reassured we had so many worries and choosing Fernebank was the best thing we did. Thank you all xx
My uncle was in Fernbank for about 6 weeks before he sadly passed away. This really is a lovely home.It is extremely well managed and I know he was very happy whilst there.I had dealings with Donna,Kieran,Hannah,Nicky ,Kathy and Angel and they were so lovely. All the staff would answer any questions I had and looked after my uncle so very well. There was no restrictions on when I could visit and I was always greeted by a smiling face
