Whoever complains about this nursing home, please try to go and work there and see how better you can do…..My father was there for the last two years of his life. Yes there were times that there may have been some shortages, but we resolved it with communication. And the staff listened. We got nothing but love and support and respect. Also for people who are sitting and complaining about this facility, how often do YOU go and visit your father and mother or who ever you “dumped” there? How often do you go and feed them? How often do you go and talk to them? Once per month? Once every two weeks?! Between your gym sessions and Mexico trips and “work meetings” and busy life?!!! Before you complain how about understand that the staff are now doing the responsibility that you had passed to them out of your lack of compassion or laziness or in fairness busy life, and the valid need for the facility. In our case, we brought our dad until we were not physically able to take care of him at home, as he needed a full hospital facility with 3-4 nurses per day minimum. So we did the best we could before we sent him there. And yes at the beginning we were not sure about the facility. But then we worked with them, and made it a home for my dad, and a loving place to get nothing but kindness and support. How about try to work with the staff rather than against them?!!!!!!!

The staff are amazing at Evergreen, they're very attentitive to the needs of the residents. The staff are good at putting up decorations for the different seasons and holidays to brighten the place up. The food is good (according to my family member and other residents there, and I can confirm it sure smells good). There are lots of common rooms for the residents to use, including smaller common rooms if you wish to take your family member to a somewhat quieter space. There are also staff members who come in and do activities for the residents, such as stretching to music as an example.
This place is discrimination at its finest. Philippino workers who don't accept Caucasian workers. Speaking Philippino infront of residents and making fun at them, treating them awfully. The staff do not care for the residents well being. There is also a mice infestation throughout the whole building, in the residents rooms, in the ceilings, it's downright disgusting. The garbage in the residents rooms don't even get emptied at night, they are full of food to attract rodents. Don't place your loved ones here if you have a choice.
Evergreen House is a safe, clean very well run facility. The experience our family had was very positive with placing my mother there. The facility could use a renovation. But, I would gladly trade that for compassionate care and medical services my mother received there any day. The reason I could not give five stars is because of the non existent or poor and unaffordable access to dentistry services that have been put in place for the residents of this facility. With the exception of the amazing visiting hygienist that was able to clean my mothers teeth. My mother was too frail physically and mentally to be taken out of the facility to see a dentist. This needs to be seriously addressed.
This facility offers staff focused care. Residents are provided care that meets the needs of the staff even if this is to the detriment of residents.Management appears more concerned with staff retention than patient well being. Families are disregarded and information regarding nursing/medical care and medications withheld. Services provided by Occupational Therapist were very professional and communication was exceptional.Avoid this facility if at all possible. At no time did I feel my father was safe at Evergreen House. Dramatic change from care and attitude from Lionsgate Hospital.
