The staff at Chartwell Avondale are kind, professional and create a safe space for all residents. As a George Brown College student, I’m learning so much from the recreation department and getting a first hand experience of how a retirement home runs. The residents are warm and welcoming people from all walks of life- newcomers are always made to feel welcome during this tricky life transition. I would highly recommend Avondale for anyone looking to move themselves or a loved one into retirement. :)

Our experience at Chartwell Avondale was positive. Everyone, from the care, cleaning, kitchen and nursing staff to the management team, was focused only on the well-being of the residents. We really appreciated out time at Avondale and would highly recommend it to anyone.
A+ Avondale, a treasure hiding in the charming Leslieville neighborhood of Toronto. This Retirement Home holds a special place in my heart and has become my favorite spot to explore. I think this place is extraordinary because it’s fully alive. They offer supportive environment that goes above and beyond. Its location is prime and it allows residents to conveniently walk to various amenities such as the dental clinic, different banks, KFC, Asian restaurants and other intriguing shops. You’ll fine Woodbine Beach to the East and Easton's Centre to the West with one streetcar ride. I think it's an ideal place to both work and live. Also, one of the standout features of Avondale is its ample parking for visitors and underground parking for residents, ensuring convenience for out-of-town families that visit often. I think this truly sets this place apart and the overwhelming sense of pride exhibited by both the residents and staff is observable when you walk in. The small-community charm and inclusive services provided here are truly unparalleled. During my time at Avondale, I had the pleasure of meeting and serving residents with diverse artistic pursuits. It was refreshing to witness the management team's genuine care and support, as they truly have hearts of gold. Chartwell, renowned for improving people's lives, perfectly describes Avondale. I am immensely grateful to R.C., the general manager and the entire Avondale team for providing me with a fulfilling work experience. Every minute spent there was a joy, and I genuinely miss all the residents. I hope you are all doing well. I’ll visit soon.
I'm very happy with my mother's care at Avondale. The food is good, the staff is attentive, and there are activities for her to enjoy if she chooses. Our family feels secure knowing mum is being taken of so well...
I was very sick when I arrived at Avondale last year. Within 8 months, I was able to leave and resume an independent life. It was a humbling and profound experience. I met strong, independent people who dealt with the afflictions of aging through their own determination and the professional, dedicated healthcare provided by the facility. They engaged the residents with a continuous menu of events and activities. To me, but maybe not to all, the regimented dining protocol impeded relaxed social engagement. The facilities were clean, and well-maintained. I found the management to be positively receptive to complaints with modest success. To conclude, the best offering from the Avondale was to create an environment where proud and successful people had the opportunity to complain and be heard.
