After many months of trying to get an update from the CQC there has now been a new report written following inspections. And it validates everything encountered with mum. It sort of makes me feel better but still no apologies from the leadership team. To say my mum was badly treated is an understatement. There is a front at the home of activities happening which do but 95% of the time the residents are left to twiddle their thumbs which is the opposite of how to manage dementia. They claim to be dementia and just don’t have the resources or means to manage this. My mum was moved without consultation from a lovely room to a tiny box room and they wondered why she got upset. Medication issues. Security issues doors left open. Residents with combinations for the doors. I am still waiting for an apology. I can see a response below. I have been in touch multiple times and there is no indication the care home wants to resolve anything. The response on here is typical of the investigation of the complaint and the integrity of this company.

My mum came into Brandon House having been very poorly and been in hospital for quite some considerable time. Since mum has been in Brandon House to say she has picked up considerably is an understatement! Mum has 24 hour care and has staff in and out looking after her all the time. There is even a lovely lady that cuts and colours her hair. Care work is very tough but all the members of staff are very tentative! Whoever slates this place obviously has never had to do this kind of work before and don't realise what it takes to care for these people! All that matters is that mum is happy and she has improved so much since been here, thank you Brandon house for making my mum so welcome!
Brandon House is an outstanding nursing home with a well trained, caring team who go the extra mile to meet the needs of the residents. Residents are significantly enjoying the numerous activities provided by the home, weekly local shopping, weekly concerts, daily crafts, karaoke etc. The management is always visible and approachable and have created an excellent environment for the residents.
Went to visit my sister yesterday (31/7/21) and upset me to see her duvet had a big stain on it and the bib she had used for her meal was strewn on the bed .My sister has lost a lot of weight and only had one pillow and was leaning across the side of her bed .Didn't see any staff whilst I was there , only the guy who let me in .Searched for the magazines I took for her a week ago and found one on the floor which smelled of urine ,and the cleanliness of the room leaves a lot to be desired. Sorry but I couldn't recommend Brandon House for these reasons.
Disgusting level of care, incompetent to the level off negligent, rude staff when you question them about care plan not being followed, left my mum to have a stroke thinking she was settled. I wouldn't let them look after a dog no matter care for people with dementia or the elderly. Should be shut down. I'd give then no stars. But people need to know
