:(Think & do your research before placing your loved into a care home..Sadly the system caring for your loved ones has failed in so many ways... I understand there are good people out there who are natural care givers & others shouldn't ever be in this field at all... (My father had worked hard all his life & "has been through hell & back",loyal, kind hearted man, giving person, loves all his kids equally, no fakeness about him, respectful to others, appreciates the simple things in life,a artist, enjoys outdoors, handy man & has done so much for so many people let alone brings joy & laughter to others even though it's heartbreaking seeing how he is now:(:)♡♡♡...However concerning part of him being in a care home.1.)Not allowed ask questions regards to his care unless your the p. o .a in the family? 2.)My Dad who would like to be (mobile/independent )which this concerning info has been brought to physical therapists attention since he has resided there & naturally my Dad is discouraged because it's been disregarded altogether..:( 3.)Policies are broken by staff within the care home yet family as myself & others need to follow?Apparently its ok to have your parent sit in his own mess for hours because he not allowed to have a nurse or care aide assist him to his/or any washroom? (I am sympathetic to a point because there is a shortage of staff & not easy to attend to all residents at the same time.Although this is your job which you chose & are being paid by the residents of the home.. 4.)Some unprofessional Nurses/or other staff members at thier station who ignore phone calls or hang up on family members wanting to say hello to thier Dad makes a simple process difficult. Its unfortunate & stressfull when a family member being placed in a nursing facility for the individual & family members at this time in thier life. All we expect is for our family member to be treated with compassion, dignity & respect.Thats all we ask.Thank you:)

My father was a patient there from june till December. Previously he was at vgh and was taking several medications that were fully covered by pharmacare. Once he came to berkley, his new doctor renewed the prescription, but didnt put him in pharmacare coverage. I wasnt alerted about this by the manager until October, with nearly $7000 owing. My father passed away in early December and ive been trying to get the facility to reimburse the money, since they openly admit their doctor made this mistake. But they havent been any help at all and the last thing they told me was to write the ministry of health to see if they might help! What other business could ever lose a clients money like this and simply say sorry, nothing we can do? Talking to the managers there is like talking to a brick wall. It is so obvious they had no intention to make this right and they obviously don't care. During this difficult time of dealing with my dad's death, I've also had this stressful situation make everything that much worse. Anyone thinking of putting a loved one here should try to have a 2nd option, or else ask them about this and get it in writing that this mistake wont happen to you!
Honestly IMO, this long term care centre is very clean. And as well the staff are always friendly and helpful. Even with the restrictions going on in the world. The Berkley care centre, is a very cheerful happy welcoming environment. Would highly recommend anyone who located on the north shore to check this place out. 4/5 stars ⭐️ I’d give 5 stars. However parking can be challenging for the disabled people, at times. Nonetheless that’s got nothing to do with the staff and the overall general care. I’ve heard horrible story’s about long term care homes. Fortunately this place is not one of the places that you would ever worry about a loved one or family member being at.
Great staff and nice behaviour. Calm and decent environment. New building and friendly and caring service.
The tiny maple flowers are nice under the warm and beautiful sunshine !
