We moved my Mom into Bayfield House in July 2023. The facility is very comfortable and warm; and is filled with beautiful murals of Georgian Bay. The rooms are adequate and well appointed for their needs. The staff are quite friendly and really try hard to make the residents feel important and respected. The food gets an average to above grading from my Mom, they seem to try hard to find something she wants if the menu doesn’t suit her. And I feel the management works hard to keep the families abreast of the various situations in the home whether it’s Covid or staffing related. We are Thankful to have Mom staying in this caring and friendly facility.

We chose Bayfield House with my mother and were very pleased with the staff and facilities. Everyone was understanding and very compassionate as she transitioned to assisted living. The food was good and highly nutritional with daily selections to suit her needs. The suite was spacious and the sun room with windows all around made it even larger. However, it was the people working at Bayfield House who made it special. Regardless of who we talked to, everyone showed us they cared. Jennifer, Michele, Fred, Michaela and the many others who cared for my mother did an amazing job. Thank you!
My grandparent lives here. Constant complaints about the food and communication. Food and the rest if the place has gone downhill since they moved in, nothing is improving. Some staff is underpaid for the services they are meant to provide. Most staff is great, kind and helpful. Servers were paid minimally and asked to do duties in other departments. The place has gone through many general managers and other staff as well. Terrible communication with residents’ families. Staff in charge of the email lists has changed and my family have been removed from the list 3 times now. Jarlette unreliable for food, staffing, communication. Cost is very expensive for the quality of food and service they currently receive. Previously, the residents were confined to their rooms with no email until after. Grandparent says that two people apparently have covid, which she heard from the person delivering her meals in her room. A staff member went to work knowing they were sick, and now they and other staff and residents have Covid and the residents are isolating again.
My Uncle and Aunt spent the last 2 years of their lives at Bayfield House and i am so grateful to the staff and management, caregivers, nurses, kitchen staff , custodial staff, admin etc. They all made my uncle & aunt feel at home , so much so every visit he wanted me to re-assure him that he would not have to move from this place. I felt very secure in the way the staff managed the Covid-19 situation and still to date no infections, this is a testament to the policies and team work at this place. My aunt died last year and my uncle Jack just last month, it was a shock to us all, but i am secure in the feeling that my sisters and i made sure we provided him and my aunt with the best place ever to live out the rest of their lives. Thanks to all for your happy, friendly and courteous approach to senior living both to the residence and their families we will miss you all dearly!! Paul, Donna and Mary
Jan/19-This is a lovely facility. The staff are helpful and caring. But beware...the food is institutional and oft times sent back uneaten. Soggy veg, tough meat and unappetizing plating are the norm here. Shame on Jarlette and their continuing use of Mapleridge as the food service provider. Aug/19 Update: In less than 3 years 3 General Managers have quit! The food is horrible. Don’t believe what’s on the monthly menu, they’ve either run out or changed it completely. The moral is so low among the residents it’s pitiful and I should know as my parents are here. Food meetings are a joke, nothing changes. Edward the kitchen manager doesn’t care any more then Jarlette. Prisoners eat better than the residents at Bayfield House. Jan/2020 Update: my parents both died in the fall of 2019 deflated and disillusioned with the horrible food at Bayfield House. From what I’ve heard from the children of people unfortunate enough to still live there nothing has changed.
