The staff at Sherwood Court looked after my Dad in his last weeks and they were all wonderful. I wouldn’t have wanted him to be anywhere else. My Mum has been a resident there for almost three years and when Dad became ill they pulled out all the stops to make a room available for him so that he could be close to his wife. This meant so much to Dad and all his family. We will always be grateful for their care and support.
to be honest the home was,nt as well managed as were were told when we asked about putting my dad into their care, he was left wandering the living area he was on, did,nt know if he had anything to eat or drink the staff did,nt know when we asked, so asked the lady at reception got told it was,nt her job to ask nursing staff, was told at the pre-admission assessment we were,nt allowed to see him for 24 hours to let him settle but then when we dropped my dad off we were told we could visit him whenever we wanted, the home smelt which they hid well when we went to look around, then because we were self funding we had to wait over a week and chase up the money we had paid upfront overall did,nt think much of the service or care so took my dad out of the home.
Sherwood Court looked after my Mum for 9 years and they couldn't have done more for her. It truly became her home. Yes, there was staff changes over the years as often happens in care settings but she was always looked after. The wider team at Sherwood Court and Barchester played a role in Mum's support and enhancing her day to day life. During covid they provided immeasurable support to us and mum. Assisting ĥer to remain in touch with us, providing updates so we were always up to date with Mum's situation and facilitating "visits" as soon as possible. Over the year's we occasionally had an issue that needed addressing and it was always dealt with quickly. Mum was treated with love, respect and care throughout her time at Sherwood and we were always greatful that a place became available at the right time.
My mum was a resided at Sherwood for a few month until the Glenroyd became available in Blackpool. Sadley my mum passed away on the 2nd June in Blackpool with her family. I just want to thank you all at Sherwood, staff were amazing and my mum was treated with dignity and respect throughout her stay. Thank you Lynn for your kind words, sharing your special memories karaoke and long chats with my mum. I would recommend the Sherwood. Kind regards Kathleen W
