3 Concert Way, Barrie, ON L4N 6N4, Canada
What a great place! We moved our 96 year-old father in a month ago on the sixth floor. We were going to look at two retirement residences, but after viewing Barrieview first, we decided we did not have to look any farther. Karissa gave us a tour of the building and a couple of the rooms and was so patient in showing my father around. She put absolutely no pressure on us at all to sign up for anything. When an apartment came available, she showed it to us, and again left it in our hands to decide (I hate sales pressure) . We decided to take it. When we moved my dad in, the room was very clean and ready to move in. Everyone was very welcoming and the staff very helpful. My dad really enjoys the meals, and he says all the residents are very friendly. We visited him today and he is amazed at how everybody there goes out of their way to make him feel at home, and are always willing to help. Ron Hartholt,

I had a very bad experience having my parents in that place: staff were stressed and short with my parents, constant water issues and fire alarms. Very bad food and all this for a very high price. I took my parents elsewhere and they get more for much less money.
The staff at the Barrieview are incredibly caring and kind. Many of them go above and beyond for the residents to ensure they are happy and cared for. The building is very beautiful. It is new with modern decor and everything is clean and provides a welcoming atmosphere. The management team is professional and answers questions/concerns in a timely manner.
Update!! We moved Dad after 18 months. Everything that was promised was never delivered. 90 minutes of care per day, it never happened once. Filthy room, missed showers, dad was cleaning his own bathroom some days. Dad never had a choice for meals. I do not recommend moving your loved one here. I am not impressed with the 2nd floor. The staff that take care of my dad are wonderful but they are not treated well. This is a tough job and to be treated poorly by management as well as being under paid is terrible. We know the fees charged, there is more than enough money to increase their pay significantly. Then you won’t be short handed, (I served dinner one night after Mary had a run in with staff) and proper care can be given to the residents, it’s a win win!
We moved our 92-year old mother into Barrieview (Memory Care floor) earlier this year. Facility is beautiful if utilized for respite care or assisted living. The past two weeks were not good ones, as Mom fell and was sent twice to the hospital two weeks ago. Once on Wednesday, and then again on Saturday. Both times she fell my sister asked for details, and on both occasions no one could even tell her where she had fallen in her room. We assumed that when she was found, the facility would document all of the details. After the second fall, when my sister visited with Mom, she was in bed as the staff indicated that she was too sore to get up. We were shocked they didn’t provide a small breakfast for her in bed. My sister managed to get her up on her own, dress her and brought her to the dining room for a light snack and tea which Mindy kindly provided. Things got worse, when another resident assaulted our mother the following Saturday. Police were called - awaiting response from facility on what steps are being taken to ensure nothing like this ever happens again. Followup - this past Sunday morning our Mom was admitted to RVH with a likely heart attack and a coma-like state. The hospital called my sister around 2 pm with the news that Mom would likely not be long for this world, and to head to the hospital ASAP. Many family members headed to the hospital, and while Mom did have a heart attack - she had also picked up covid at Barrieview (which had an outbreak the prior week). No one from Barrieview even called my sister to apprise her that Mom was being hospitalized!
