When our dear neighbour and friend (our “surrogate family”) was ready to transition into senior living, we set out with her to tour the many options within our community. With very similar offerings, small nuances separated the contenders. Upon entering Aspira Pacifica unannounced (testing their “Drop-Ins Welcome” sign) we immediately recognized the pleasing decor, cleanliness, and high level of maintenance. Their team spirit approach shone through, as various employees stepped up to take us through different areas of the property. Totally impressed, we returned numerous times to tour suites, test the food in the dining room, and expand on the many options available. Upon entry there was always a welcoming atmosphere. Both staff and residents were open to engage with us, and answer any questions we had. There is an extraordinary dining area with vaulted ceilings, windows providing ample natural light, and a wide variety of menu items as well as a la carte options. They have embraced not only our dear friend, now a resident, but warmly welcome us as visitors. We have even been invited to partake in social activities, ultimately enhancing the experience for our loved one. In closing, Aspira Pacifica is more than a senior living residence - it is a thriving community, supporting and enriching the lives of the residents. We strongly recommend this residence.

I was thoroughly impressed by its exceptional standards and commitment to elder care. The staff's professionalism, coupled with their courteous and supportive demeanour, significantly enhances the living experience for its residents. The facility's public spaces are well maintained, reflecting a high level of cleanliness and thoughtful design. This attention to detail extends to the range of amenities available. The hair salon, television room, billiards room, game room, bistro kitchen, movie theatre, and commissary are all tailored to meet the diverse interests and needs of the residents. A notable advantage of Aspira Pacifica is its strategic location. Adjacent to a well-equipped strip mall boasting a major grocery store, dollar store, post office (three blocks away), movie theatre, pharmacies, various medical services, and an array of dining establishments, the facility ensures convenience and accessibility for its residents. The culinary services at Aspira Pacifica deserve special commendation. The kitchen staff excels in providing a variety of high-quality meals daily, catering to different dietary preferences and requirements, thereby ensuring a delightful dining experience for all residents. The facility's accessibility is another commendable feature. Situated conveniently off King George, it offers substantial visitor parking. Additionally, its proximity to a major transit stop, just a block away, facilitates easy visits from family and friends. Aspira Pacifica’s pricing structure is comprehensive and considerate, encompassing rent, utilities, internet/TV, food, and access to numerous events and services. The facility also offers a variety of personalized care options for an additional fee, such as medication monitoring and physiotherapy, allowing for tailored care for each resident. The sales representative, Tina, deserves a special mention for her exceptional ability to convey the essence of life at Aspira Pacifica. Her informative and straightforward approach provides a realistic and yet positive perspective on assisted living. Moreover, the operations team, under the leadership of Felicia, demonstrates an extraordinary commitment to resident support and assistance. The outdoor area of the facility, complete with well-tended gardens, provides a serene environment for the more active residents. The inclusion of organized field trips and in-home shopping options further enriches the resident experience. Importantly, the security measures at Aspira Pacifica, including facial recognition and multi-locked doors after hours, ensure a safe and secure environment for all residents. In summary, Aspira Pacifica stands out as an example of the best of assisted living, offering an environment that is not only safe and convenient but also enriching and enjoyable. It is an excellent choice for those seeking a compassionate and dignified living arrangement for their loved ones.
My family’s experience with Pacifica Assisted Living, where my mother resided, was deeply concerning. While we initially hoped this would be a safe and supportive environment for her, several incidents raised serious questions about the quality of care and respect for residents. One of the most distressing episodes occurred at the end of October, 2024. My mother was aggressively treated by staff members while they attempted to administer her liquid antibiotic. Despite her being capable of taking her medication independently, the staff forcibly held the mug to her mouth, ignored her protests that she couldn’t swallow quickly enough, and yelled at her to go to bed. When she ultimately vomited the medication, one of the aides used her pajama bottoms to clean up the mess—a horrifying and degrading response. To make matters worse, the vomit on her kitchen floor was not properly cleaned for two days. Shockingly, it took Pacifica four days to interview my mother about this incident, during which time she felt deeply distressed and unsupported. There appeared to be no management available on weekends, leading to delays in addressing serious issues. Even more distressing is the fact that the staff members involved in the abusive treatment of my mother are still employed at the facility. This is unacceptable and has only deepened my family’s mistrust of Pacifica’s ability to provide a safe environment for its residents. Additionally, there were ongoing issues with medication management, including delays in administering her Parkinson’s medication, which directly impacted her health and safety. Care aides often appeared rushed, frequently leaving before ensuring my mother had actually swallowed her medication. When I reached out to the VP of Operations regarding these concerns, it took five days to receive a response—a frustratingly slow reaction to such serious matters. The lack of respect for residents’ dignity was another major concern. Care aides frequently entered residents’ rooms without knocking, violating their privacy. Staff often referred to residents by their room numbers (e.g., “#227”) rather than their names, which was dehumanizing and unprofessional. It was also common for staff to discuss residents openly within earshot of visitors and other residents in the reception area, showing a blatant disregard for privacy and confidentiality. To their credit, the dining room staff were pleasant for the most part, and some care aides were compassionate and caring in their interactions. However, these positive aspects were overshadowed by the overall lack of attentiveness, professionalism, and urgency in addressing the critical needs of residents. Due to these ongoing concerns and the distressing treatment my mother endured, my family and I made the decision to move her to another residence with a better reputation for compassionate and competent care. While this was a difficult choice, it was necessary to ensure her safety, dignity, and well-being. Knowing that the staff responsible for the abuse my mother endured continue to work at Pacifica is deeply distressing. It is a stark reminder of the systemic issues that persist within this facility. Families entrusting their loved ones to a care facility deserve far better. Based on my mother’s experience, I cannot recommend Pacifica Assisted Living.
We moved my parents into Aspira Pacifica Retirement Residence in November of 2023. For our family it was the best move for my aging parents. Our inquiry was replied to right away by the lovely Tina, we toured the building two times and she was able to show us options and was so patient with all of our questions. Once we decided to move forward, the team at Pacifica was so welcoming. The food is fantastic, lots of activities, and the staff are all so wonderful, kind and compassionate. The residence is clean and beautiful, and the residents are happy and very friendly. My parents have adjusted well to their new home and for my family we definitely know we made the right choice. Thank you to Felicia and her wonderful team.
Just letting everyone know, we have recently moved into Pacifica Retirement home and we are loving it. The food is excellent, the staff is polite, happy and oh so courteous and always wanting to help us. Our gal Tina was especially wonderful to us, always responding to our every need, always there to help. I do not think we would have moved in, if Tina was not there. I also want to thank Felicia and Estella for always helping us out and being so kind. Moving is not easy, but these three wonderful people made it all worthwhile. Carol/Marc
