What a magical place! This beautifully restored ancient residence in the historic village of Santarcangelo di Romagna is the perfect base for exploring southern Romagna. It's run by brother and sister Sabrina and Roberto in an ancient warren of buildings that includes two wonderful restaurants with tufa caves below them for ageing cheese and salumi. Bedrooms are spacious, clean and comfortable and although breakfast isn't included there are coffee machines and pods in the rooms and it's fun to join the locals at the nearby Caffè Commercio. Food, wine, service and ambience at both Ristorante Lazaroun and La Salumaia (overseen by Roberto) are all excellent. Be sure to ask for a tour of the caves.

My mother, who suffered a stroke twice and was therefore totally paralysed, was a guest of the Platani for 7 years during which I was able to appreciate an ever greater attention towards the patients and their families, which made the structure progressively more welcoming and friendly. Moments of family sharing are facilitated in every way. Countless initiatives aimed at socializing guests and developing hobbies and interests are undertaken with intelligence, kindness and authenticity thanks to an increasingly engaging and "creative" management over the years and a staff of affectionate and kind people. The management of Covid was very attentive to the health of the patients but trying in every way to never lack, as far as possible, the closeness of the family members. Thanks to all the Platani staff and a Management always present, proactive and ready to accept suggestions or resolve inconveniences, in the front row in every difficult or playful moment.
What can you write about a place that welcomed your father in a very delicate period of his life and that looked after him and accompanied him to the end in the most loving way possible? I will always be grateful to the entire facility for how they work and interact not only with the guests but also with us family members who arrive there emotionally exhausted and most of the time unprepared for this type of experience. The facility is made up of very attentive and very sweet staff, maximum cleanliness, beautiful activities for guests with many meeting opportunities where family members can also participate. I platani is a place that at a certain point becomes "home" that you will always carry in your heart. Thanks to all of you
After 5 days of my mother being in this facility, the doctor suggested that I either take her to the emergency room or, alternatively, make a nice contract to NOT have her treated and let her die in the facility by suspending any treatment and sedating her. Too bad I didn't have a tape recorder with me to obviously report it. Luckily I managed to take her away before the worst happens.
Great humanity in this structure, competent and very helpful staff. Wide visiting hours and beautiful birthday parties make our loved ones' stay pleasant despite personal difficulties. It was a positive experience for all of us, especially for my mother who always appeared smiling and serene and who was also able to make some progress from an orthopedic point of view. A few small problems with clothing which were resolved thanks to everyone's good will. Thank you.
