- Former Monastery of the Poor Clares - current Convent of SS. Francis and Clare (Franciscan Fraternity) I arrived in the morning on foot from Breno, I find the gate open. I cross the large square, and I see a modern Monastery: the bell tower is a sail with two bells. I recognize Santa Chiara of Assisi (statue). The doors are closed: I can't find the timetable... I understand that it is a place of spirituality, of peace. I discover a mural that represents the place. I'm sorry that I couldn't visit the church. WORTH IT. It is 200 meters from SPBS345

Having needed to do a personal spiritual retreat, the Poor Clares of Lovere recommended this monastery to me, which was run until just under 2 years ago by their small community. It is currently run by a Fraternity of the order of the Friars Minor, Brother Giampaolo, Brother Marco and Brother Daniele. I had the privilege (but it is their practice) of sharing some moments of their priestly life (lauds, vespers and compline) and community life (meals prepared by Brother Daniele) and I must underline their availability and welcome to make you feel at ease. The climate is one of great prayer and both the monastery and the Fraternity facilitate those who need spaces and moments of meditation. Furthermore, the structure is located on Mount Maddalena where a few minutes walk away is the Sanctuary and the Statue of Christ the King. I hope to be able to return as soon as possible and a special thanks to the Friars who give Glory to the Lord with their lives of Prayer. Daniele Tapini
In modern style and of recent construction, it was in fact inaugurated on 8 October 1988. The Poor Clares monastery dedicated to Santa Chiara is located in a remote area of Bienno on the road that connects the town to Breno. The church is preceded by an entrance avenue that leads to a square, outside there is a statue of Santa Chiara. The interior, with a single nave, is modern and illuminated by very colorful windows.
Small and beautiful, an example of modernity well placed in one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. Seeing is believing
Excellent for taking a moment to pause for reflection, prayer and discussion with the nuns of the monastery
