As soon as I arrived, despite the fact that I was in Palermo for serious health reasons of a relative, I felt at home: excellent welcome, clean, comfortable, bright room, convenient parking, possibility of using the kitchen, a laundry room and a room with television. Every day the nun in charge of the reception service was very close to me, as she was to the other guests of the structure, which among other things is very close to several nursing homes, a large supermarket and the bus stop. bus... in short, even if the circumstances that led me to this shelter were not the best, the sincere moral comfort offered and the comfort of the context alleviated the burden of everything else. I highly recommend it!
We stayed a few days at this property. Clean and comfortable environment as it has a shared kitchen and laundry room, possibility of watching TV in a room shared with other guests. In the surrounding area you can reach the supermarket, pharmacy and bus stop on foot! A few meters from Villa Maria Eleonora, convenient for those who unfortunately have relatives hospitalized at this clinic.
It is a reception facility for wealthy elderly gentlemen. For my grandmother the rate was €2000 per month and I had to take care of procuring medicines, diapers and catheters (my grandmother was bedridden due to some ulcers on her legs). Some days during the shift change they left the patients playing for hours. The ladies on duty are very kind but few for a similar structure. It was also not uncommon for me to be made to wait outside for several minutes when I went to visit my grandmother. I understand you are nuns and have the rituals but hiring more staff. Honestly speaking, for a similar amount I would have expected a significantly better service. Shortly before moving my grandmother to another facility, my nurse sister told me that after her illness my grandmother would never walk again. Today my grandmother lives a peaceful life in another retirement home and can walk with a walker. If it were up to them they would have kept her bedridden for life. Take your conclusions.
I went to this institute when I was little, I attended primary school, with really good lay teachers and nuns. Over time the institute has undergone changes, both in structure (part of the avenue was eliminated to allow the municipality to build the road) and unfortunately the school was also closed for economic reasons. It now houses the Umberto I, but has kept the retirement home active, initially created only for self-sufficient users. I continued to have contact with some of the nuns who were part of my childhood, a few years ago I also had the opportunity to carry out a music therapy workshop taking advantage of a room on loan for free use, always thanks to their goodness and availability. If one day I were to return to Palermo, I would certainly offer my service for the nursing home.
