I haven't been their personally as my brittle bone condition means I can't travel that far- even going over a pot hole in the road can break me. I have heard and witnessed so much abuse in some care homes. You are most vulnerable when you get to that stage. I WOULD TRUST THE FAMILY THAT RUNS THIS HOME WITH MY LIFE. THEY GENUINELY CARE. THEY ALSO HAVE OTHER HOMES IN CHRISTCHURCH RUN BY FAMILY MEMBERS SO YOU CAN CHOSE WHICH ONE IS MOST SUITABLE FOR YOUR LOVED ONE. THEY ARE VERY APPR9CHABLE AND WELCOMING.

Rooms are tiny (aside from the apartments of exorbitant expense), it's common practice for residents to be forced up before 8AM, clothing frequently gets lost in the laundry system, and the decor is drab enough to induce mindnumbing dementia... Certainly not an ideal retirement destination. Stories I've heard about Elms Court have been ghastly; Do not take your cherished family members here. The heart of this retirement home are the caregivers and housekeepers, and yet they're the ones who get churned through the most.
I have never been to Elms Court Village, but have been reading the reviews of different Retirement options around. I'm going to be 64yrs old soon, am married, but have a very long list of Medical conditions/issues, 3 of which have no cure, not cancer-1 is Neuropathic pain from head to toe from 3 back surgeries, 1st at 32, last 1 at 61yrs old, back will never be right. Luckily haven't had a Flare up in 14mths, but still present & painful, I end up bedridden & nothing takes away the pain. I feel now I am a burden, have just had some toes fused on both feet, 5" metal rods taken out the other day. Having to learn how to walk again, I feel like a burden to my husband who does everything & I mean everything, housework, cooking, outside, personal care with myself, dressing me and my daughter works full-time but does so much too. The reviews on here are amazing and I love the fact it is family owned and not owned by a Group like Rymans. Bad experiences with Essie Summers Retirement Village where my Aunty was put, she didn't have dementia & wasn't losing her marbles as I was told. Two Complaints were made about Staff member-Day Manager nothing happened. A Retirement village, family owned again from what I have read is great, lovely to read it is 1 big happy family, I hope when I'm ready I get to go to Elms Court or some place exactly the same, wouldn't be too many places like yours. 10 stars 🌟 if were available, keep up the fantastic work.
So my mum was a resident 2018 to march this year. What an exceptional place thank you to all
I have been in this complex for almost 4 years under 3 different management's. Steve Burke took over as owner/manager a few short weeks ago & already we are reaping the benefits of "new blood". . Cosmetically we see great changes& our daily living experiences are keeping us extremely busy & happy & I look forward to being on this journey. Being interested in the garden I am more than thrilled to see the lovely caring attention this area is getting.. It is a pleasure to be part of.
